What happened today with #school students in Jounieh is shocking.

The excessive use of force against #students & #demonstrators must end. This doesn’t reflect the image of #TheLebanonWeWant. @UNICEFLebanon
Yesterday’s incidents included disturbing assaults against #journalists. Lebanon used to be the country of #FreedomofExpression & movement. Protecting journalists covering demonstrations is fundamental for #Lebanon’s #human-rights prevalence @OHCHR_MENA

و1/2 From my meeting with Minister Raya el Hassan: excessive use of force against protesters is unacceptable, action must be taken also to prevent future excesses, the journalists must be under special protection, as well as the minors. pic.twitter.com/uqZ43laHLh

2/2 Anger of the people is understandable, but it is different from vandalism of political manipulators, that must be stopped. Otherwise, security forces deserve our respect and support.

Vandalism is never an appropriate way to manifest the legitimate anger and desperation of demonstrators. Beware of political manipulation, of infiltrators trying to hijack and compromise the legitimate protests, to provoke security forces that are also part of the Lebanese people
